About This Location
Mill Road is a two-lane rural road connecting Bombay to Pukekohe, and it's earned a rough reputation. Locals dubbed the western end where it meets Great South Road and the SH1 motorway ramps "Collision Crossroads," and Transport Agency data backs them up: 227 recorded accidents at that junction since 1999. The road carries heavy freight traffic and serves as an alternative route when the Southern Motorway is backed up, but its poor alignment and unsafe intersections make speeding a real problem. Before this camera went in, only 39% of drivers were sticking to the 80 km/h limit. After installation, that jumped to 99%. A major corridor upgrade is planned to widen the road to four lanes between the SH1 interchange and Harrisville Road, but that's years away.

How This Camera Works
This is a fixed spot speed camera that measures your instantaneous speed as you pass using radar technology. If your speed exceeds the posted limit, the camera captures an image of your vehicle and number plate. Spot speed cameras are the most common type across the Auckland region and operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
